Prayers For Haiti....

Please keep Dee and Wilckly in your prayers as they continue to minister to many in their community and surrounding communities....as they are up against an outbreak of Cholera, a disease spreading rampant throughout, causing serious illness and death. Dee and Wilckly are well, but plead for our continued support and most important..PRAYER! Satan wants us to say, "I give up!...Why God?....Not again!...."

But, HIS HOLY SPIRIT assures us that we have nothing to fear because we are HIS CHILDREN and HE IS POWERFUL! He reminds us of the VICTORY that is coming when God's Kingdom is fully realized!!

Challenge for all of us.....every time you come in contact with water (drink, bathe..etc...please LIFT UP HAITI IN PRAYER!

We recently attended the NACC in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dee, Ashley, Kelsey, Josiah, Shaina, Dave and Tammy all went and set up a booth representing BLESSING HEARTS INTERNATIONAL! The week was fantastic, and we were able to make many contacts and share this important Ministry to many people. We pray that God will nourish the seeds that were sown and grow this Ministry even more!

We PRAISE GOD for His miracles and His amazing Love! We are so thankful that Chris has now returned home from the Miami Hospital. She is surrounded by her children, family and friends as she continues to make progress and heal. Please continue to pray for her journey through this process and for God's healing hand to be upon her!

Marc is also out of the Haitian Hospital. He is making good progress as well, although he still needs extensive treatment in the US to regain full use of his arms. Please pray that God will provide a way for him to get the proper care that is needed.

Dee and Ashley Reunite!!!!

Dee has returned to the US to be with her children of whom she hasn't seen since January! She made a surprise visit to see her oldest daughter, Ashley while she was attending camp. It was an emotional, heart felt, happy reunion to say the least! Charlie, Teresa and Lonia also came for a visit to see Ashley at the camp. Dee met up with her other two children, Kelsey and Josiah later that same day.....Praise God for this LONG AWAITED reunion!! Hopefully, they can see their Dad (Wilckly) very soon as well!

Chris continues to make progress with her treatment in the Miami hospital. She has been able to go outside in a wheelchair and enjoy some fresh air. She has even been able to stand up on occasion! She's had some changes in medication to help in the healing of her brain injury. Her bones are healing well and she is to begin rehabilitation very soon. Please continue to pray for God's amazing grace and healing to be upon her...also we continue to pray for Kyle, as he is still with Chris in Miami..and their children as they are anxiously awaiting for their homecoming.

Marc continues to make progress as well...he no longer has infection in his arms, and his spirit is good. Pray that his skin grafts will take and that he will have good prognosis of both arms. He still needs extensive treatment in the US...pray God will arrange this immediately!

Continue to pray for healing physically, and emotionally to all the students from Hannibal who were in the accident. They are all making tremendous progress....Praise God!

Continue to pray for Dee and Wilckly as they labor for the Lord....pray that they will be re-united with their children who are still in Iowa, very...very...soon!

Update from Dee Dorce'

Chris's condition has stabalized. She has been moved out of ICU to a regular room. She was able to sit in a chair. The doctors say her progress is on target. It is good to see her sweet smile and even catch a wink now and then. Please continue to lift her in prayer before the Lord, that she would be encouraged and continue healing. Pray for her husband Kyle that he would have the strength and patience he needs. Pray for their children, Georgia and Wilson, that they would all be together again soon.

Tomorrow morning, Lord willing, I will be flying back to Haiti. I really need to go back and encourage Wilckly, Marc, Bioude and all the others. I am praying some contacts that have been made will help me to get Marc here to the States soon for his medical treatment. Please continue to pray for this.

Also, pray for Yoka, who many of you know who have visited us in Haiti. She is in the hospital with malaria. Pray that she would be home soon.

Continue to pray for all of those who were in the accident. Pray that for our ministry as God continues to reach others for Christ. A note that hasn't been shared is that on Saturday, before the group left, we had nine baptisms. Two of them were boys who live with us, Ti-Bonomme and Amos. Another you might know is Ti- Liline. These are all young teens in my Sunday School class. We praise God for these new babes in Christ. Lift them up that they would grow strong spiritually to be the leaders of tomorrow that Haiti so desperately needs.

Chris came through her surgery just fine...they placed rods and pins to help healing process with her broken pelvis. They will leave in for 6 mos. and then go back in and remove. She is sedated and sleeping well today. They are hopeful that she will be able to get up and move around sometime soon! Doctors do not think they will need to do surgery on her neck (fractured disks) or her hip. Keep praying...God is good!

Kyle, Chris's mother and sister as well as Dee, are still in Miami with Chris. They have been able to interact with 'International Hospital Services', an organization right there at the hospital. They have been amazing and very supportive and helpful in many, many ways to Kyle and Dee. They provide them with a quiet place to go to have access to internet/email, fax machines, phone calls..etc... their days are long and tiring....but, they are thankful to be there and are encouraged by everyone praying...KEEP IT UP!

Marc (pictured above with his daughter, Alexandria) is still in Haiti awaiting further treatment in the US. He needs our continued prayers to make this happen and for his comfort and healing!!!

Wilckly is out of a vehicle, but finding ways to get to hospital each day. Three of their Haitian family and friends (who were not in the accident...) have been in the hospital and are being treated for symptoms including...vomiting, diarrhea, and high fever. They have been on O2 and IV fluids. They are not sure what the diagnosis is, but are treating their symptoms. One of the patients is Marc's little daughter who is 3 years old. Wilckly also had to call Haitian police to remove some men off their property who were being hostile and very disruptive.

Continue praying for the few Haitian patients that were in the accident and still hospitalized.

Satan seems to be attacking with every chance and every path he can find...Please pray for God's protection, healing, peace and deliverance! We know we can find victory in Jesus!

Chris has been taken into surgery tonight to treat her broken hip and broken pelvis. This is the surgery they have been waiting to do...so thankful that she is stable enough to finally proceed with this treatment. Pray for a good prognosis and quick recovery!

Praise God....

Marc has completed his 4th surgery of extensive skin grafting, and he is able to slightly move some fingers...Dee was able to speak with him this morning on the phone.

We are still waiting for his transport to the US to continue his care which will be more surgeries and reconstruction of his arms. He has a wife and young daughter, and he is looking forward to holding his little baby in his arms this August.

Pray that all the paper work is completed quickly, and the physicians, facilities, and funding will be provided immediately.

5 out of 6 Haitian patients who are close friends and family remain in the hospital. Injuries include the loss of feet/legs. One person who suffered from concussion has returned home.

Praise God..!!

Chris is still in ICU, but is now finally able to have some relief of her pain with medication other than Tylenol. They are optimistic that she will not need surgery on her neck as they had originally planned. She still wears a neck brace due to broken clavicles. She is aware of those around her and although she tires easily, she speaks to them regularly.

The rest of the team have all returned home, and are having staples and sutures removed little by little. They all plan to meet soon at the College to 'debrief' the recent tragic events.

Your prayers are being felt and we ask that you continue to lift them up!!!

Chris was given a sponge bath today, they also have turned her from side to side to help relieve some pain from laying flat on her back. Doctors are still waiting for swelling on her brain to go down so they can administer pain meds. Her heart rate remains stable. Her parents and husband are with her as well as Dee, and they continue to surround her with encouragement, love and prayer. They feel our prayers and they ask that we continue to lift up prayers on their behalf. Please pray for her pain to be relieved and for much needed comfort, rest and healing.

Praise God that Alysa has been released from the hospital and has returned home! They have successfully re-attached her ear and the infection has cleared up. Pray that God continues to give her healing.

Marc is still in Haiti and just completed a 3rd surgery to graft more skin on his arms. Efforts are still being made to transfer his care to a hospital in the US. Although they are hopeful that he will be able to keep both arms, he will need extensive, and intricate surgeries to maintain the health and use of his arms. The extreme importance of an infection-free environment is crucial for his prognosis. The prayer request for Marc.... comfort, strength, and healing. Also, for God to provide a way to transfer his health care to the US and to bring forth financial sponsorship/organization to defray the cost of all his medical needs. Pray that a facility and physicians will be provided to care for Marc immediately.

5 Haitians are still in the hospital with broken legs, and amputated feet. Many are also under-going multiple skin grafting procedures. Please lift them up for God's healing hand to be upon them as well.

Continue to pray for all those who were in the accident...they have returned home, but their hearts are still in Haiti. Pray that God will give them rest and peace in their hearts as they emotionally mend.

Pray for Dee and Wilckly as they are apart from one another and from their children. They are experiencing a wide range of emotions and experiences. They have great concerns for their family and friends who have been involved in this tragedy.

This is a special time for calling attention to the things God has already allowed us to see him do and a plea for strength and courage to walk in faith when and if he chooses not to reveal his ways or his reasons.

Chris has had a couple of good days...making some progress, and her heart rate is much better. She has been more alert and responsive to her surroundings and those who are around her. We are so thankful that she continues to progress, and even though she still has many injuries to treat, we are all hopeful of her prognosis and we give God ALL the Glory!!

Still in the process of moving Marc to the States for treatment...we wait as God continues to orchestrate His amazing plan!

Everyone continues to heal and recover...most have gone home with their families. Please continue to pray for healing and God's provisions!

We are truly thankful for God's miracles and His protection throughout this whole tragic event!

Update on Dorce's....

Although tragedy has struck, we cling to the promises of God, and we know they will come true!

Update and new prayer requests..........

Chris Brennemann is still critical and in ICU. Although her injuries are severe, she has responded with her eyes open and squeezing of hands. Her husband is by her side, and Dee has been able to be with her as well. She is aware of her surroundings and knows where she is and who everyone is. She has multiple fractures including her skull, pelvis, clavicles, and swelling on her brain. She has even given a smile....

The other 3 girls are hopefully being released today from the hospital to return to their homes. Some have cuts, bruises, road rash, sutures and staples, but their prognosis is good!

In Haiti.....Marc is being treated by a wonderful group of doctors/surgeons, and now they are hopeful that he should be able to keep BOTH ARMS!!!! PRAISE GOD! He is going to need lots of surgeries to repair both arms, but they are very hopeful. They are working on arranging State-side hospital care for Marc, in the event that it is needed.

Wilckly is surrounded by his community and they are ministering to him the best they can. Over 300 people came to him last night! His heart is heavy but he knows his Heavenly Father and he continues to lean on Him to help carry this burden.

Please continue praying and we must not lose heart! (Luke 18: 1)

Wilckly and Dee were recently in a serious accident.

They are OK physically, but emotionally they are very distraught. A group of girls from Hannibal LaGrange College made a trip to Haiti and were to return today to the States. As they were all in route to the airport and coming down the mountain side, the brakes went out in the truck.

Fortunately, a 'make shift' hospital from the University of Miami was still functioning at the airport as a result of the recent earthquake. They were able to assist the Dorce's and triage everyone quickly.

Chris Brennemann, who is the US forwarding agent and very close friend of the Dorce's, is in very critical condition and presently in the States at a hospital in Miami. Her husband Kyle is in route to be with her there. Dee is also with Chris at the hospital in Miami as Wilckly has stayed back in Haiti to continue serving their community.

Marc, a very close friend who also lives in Haiti and minister's along side Wilckly, has very serious injuries to both arms. The prognosis of his arms are questionable.

Some of the girls from Hannibal obtained injuries and are in the Miami hospital as well, although thank the Lord, their injuries are not life threatening.

Please pray for God's healing hand to be upon Chris, Marc and the others who have injuries.

Please pray for safe travels for everyone as they continue their journeys home.

Please pray for Ashley, Kelsey and Josiah as they are still in Iowa awaiting the arrival of their mother for a sweet, precious reunion!

Please pray for God's presence, love and strength to embrace Dee and Wilckly during this very difficult time. May God lift this burden from their hearts and carry them ALL through this tragic event.

Greetings from Carries, Haiti and Dorce’ Ministries May 9, 2010

Progress! It's a rare and beautiful description in mission work in Haiti. Progress continues at Dorce' Ministries and Berea Christian Schools. Sometimes its small and slow, and occasionally, it just drops right into your lap ... but it's always from the Lord. Thank you so much for continuing to support our work and to believe that together we can make a difference in Haiti for the Kingdom. Our primary mission continues, that of raising up a new generation of Haitians who know the Lord and desire to serve Him.

The earthquake brought physical ruin to the country. It brought the loss of human life unlike anything most of us will ever witness. It also brought unprecedented opportunity to reach the lost. The rebuilding process is painstaking and discouraging at times. We still have a container and a Backhoe stuck in customs, but the good far outweighs the bad.

We wish you could all see first-hand the progress that is being made. Additionally, missionaries are working together like never before to help each other. Needs are being met in unprecedented ways. That's the kind of God we serve, a God who knows our every need and supplies it in His time, His way, for His glory.

Within the past couple of weeks, literally hundreds of children and adults have been fed ... regularly. The gospel has been presented, and dozens have come to Christ. School has resumed, and the numbers continue to grow every week. The difference is YOU, your support, your prayers, your belief in this ministry.

A team of 15 from Hannibal-LaGrange College will be at Dorce' Ministries in Haiti this coming week and into the next week. The group will visit the Dorce's various school locations and help with disaster relief projects. Dee will return to the states with the group, as will Shaina, our short-term resident missionary in Haiti. We appreciate your prayers for safety and effectiveness for the efforts and ministry of this visiting team.

Greetings from the Dorce’s in Haiti: April 17, 2010

Berea Christian School in Carries opened for school last week (as did all schools in Haiti) ... the first week of school since the earthquake. There were 12 students the first day, 25 the second day, 32 the next day, then 51 and then 62 in attendance. The numbers will continue to grow until the school averages close to 200 students.

We've been praying about and working toward having a lunch program for the school kids, and although we've not been able to establish that quite yet, we have been able to give the children MRE's several days. It is a real treat for everyone!

In addition to school, construction and clean up are still consuming our days. Progress comes slowly here, but we remain patient. Some of the projects we are tackling or will soon be able to complete are things we've waited for years. We are excited! We are encouraged! We are thankful for everyone who is part of it.

And one very special, overwhelming thank you to all of you who helped acquire the Backhoe for Blessing Hearts International. Quite frankly, this piece of equipment will revolutionize what we can do for the mission, for the school, for our housing and for the betterment of all the little villages we serve. There are a few key individuals who were instrumental in this labor of love. You know who you are, and we trust that the Lord will reward you for your hard work, diligence and love for Him and for the people of Haiti. Thank you. (At the time we are writing this note, the Backhoe along with a 40-ft container are in route to Haiti.)

We do need to work quickly. It is urgent that we complete the concrete floors, purchase the metal to weld the frame of the buildings and purchase the tin to cover the buildings and make the walls. The urgency is due to the impending rainy season. Classes would have to be canceled if we didn't have enough room to accommodate everyone. Our old building is fractured and the columns and the rebar in them were twisted and shaken. The Ministry of Education looked at our facilities and would not approve our former school structure; thus the urgency to build and enclose areas sufficient for school.

One more noteworthy update ... fuel is in short supply. Gas usually costs about $50 Haitian. It is now up to $80 Haitian, which is about $10 US ... per gallon! And we're thankful when we can buy it at all. Pumps at gas stations are frequently empty. We have a welder, construction projects, generators and vehicles that require gas. Pray for the fuel shortage to subside.

We are humbled and moved and grateful beyond description for your response to and trust in this ministry. We've been in Haiti for almost 17 years, and in many ways, these days of devastation and hardship are proving to be the most productive in all our time here. None of this is possible without you responding to the need, so again, thank you and God bless you.

We continue to count on the Lord for the wisdom to do what He wants with every resource He provides. Our commitment to you is that we will continue to work tirelessly to reach the people of rural Haiti with the Gospel and to educate a new generation of Haitians who will have the opportunity to grow up knowing there is a God Who loves them and desires a personal relationship with them. Continue to pray for revival in Haiti.

A Word from Dee and Wilckly....

Greetings from the Dorce’s in Haiti:

The story these days is construction. Although we have started clearing the land by hand like the settlers of old, we are longing for the day when our backhoe arrives to expedite the work and cut the cost of construction. Six men spent a week shoveling dirt and carrying it by wheelbarrow to fill the foundation so that we could pour concrete. It took two months to dig by hand the four, small 10ft x 20ft foundations, to lay the rock and pour the concrete in preparation for our "earthquake proof" housing. We are moving along on these projects as quickly as possible with the available funds.

We thank you for making it possible to get our family and staff out from under the tarps before the heavy rains come. We experienced a night under the tarps in the pouring rain which has made us much more concerned for so many in the hard hit areas that are not able to find any other shelter but sleeping on the wet, cold ground under a tarp.

We have moved into our first, completed, new style structure. It is 10ft x 20ft. It has a rock foundation with concrete floor and is covered with plywood and tin. These are the types of buildings we are erecting now.

We have a larger one, about 45 x 20 that we are trying to complete before school opens, Monday, April 5th. We are sending out notes to the parents that school will open on Monday. They will announce it on the radio. We will use a megaphone to walk through the area and announce that school will be opening. We have no idea how many children will show up on Monday. The State wants school to go through the end of August and open up again in October. It will be interesting to say the least, to see how all of that works out.

As the mission work continues in the way of physical construction, it also continues in the way of spiritual construction. The fields are white unto harvest. We praise God as we have been able to baptize 20 into Christ in the past three weeks, from Port-au-Prince, Montrouis, Carries and Florida. We praise God for these new babes in Christ and ask that you would continue to lift them in prayer. I also have five youth for you to pray for specifically and by name as we are studying in Sunday school about what it means to be a Christian and live it out before others. Their names are Amos, Tibon-homme, Esterlin, Ti-Liline, Altamarthe. Please pray that they would make a decision to commit their lives to Christ. They are all fourteen and fifteen years old. Two of them are boys that we are raising in our home.

Yesterday we had two new additions to our home. Antor and Emmanuel are 10 and 14; they are boys from the mountains. They are brothers, and their parents couldn't afford to feed them and continue giving them an education. They will be living with us, attending school and church activities. We want to help them learn a trade and teach them to be active Christians. Preachers and teachers are so desperately needed. This is our new hope to train children by extending a helping hand to the parents who can't finish raising them on their own.

Please pray for God's continued guidance and blessings as we strive to meet this challenge. May God bless you as you serve Him daily in your life.

We ate at a really COOL restaurant at Crown Center/Kansas City. You order from your table on a telephone and then a small train that circulates above on a track will deliver your food in a white container by lowering it to your table. Josiah LOVED watching the train as it came around with a loud whistle!!

Wow! Friday was one amazing day around here! Wilckly worked tirelessly to insure we could get this container out and transported to our property. He was also very patient to ensure that anything that comes there in the future....WILL NOT TAKE THAT LONG TO GET IT OUT, LORD WILLING! Unfortunately, in spite of the disaster, it is all about who you know. We are so thankful that we feel we now know some of the right people and we are anxious to receive the second container which will leave Florida on March 22. In the mean time we have a lot of work to do to unload this container. The next problem is doing it without drawing a crowd. Basically this means we go out every night and bring in a few things that we can sort through during the day. Don't worry! When the second one gets here and they are all busy pulling things out the front door, I will be at the back cutting a whole with something to get the Rhino out!!!! You are all amazing beyond words. You have risen above and beyond our needs and those of the Haitian people and we are truly humbled by your actions. Dorce’ Ministries Update:

Dear Supporting Family,

The outpouring of blessings you have shared with Haiti has been amazing! Our lives in Haiti have been changed forever. You are making it possible, day by day, for us to continue helping the Haitian people. You are making it possible for us to meet their needs. We have had to do some crazy things and make some difficult decisions. You have stood beside us, prayed with us and for us, given donations, filled containers and so much more. We want you to know that our ministry is changing daily and we give God the glory for it. Here is just a sampling of the things your support has made possible:

* Purchased building materials, 2x4's, tin, plywood, nails, cement, sand, rock and gravel
* Covered our reservoir with concrete.
* Covered one house with tin and building more privacy fences and foundations for storage and gatherings.
* Bought 3 electric posts (25 ft. long) to begin running electric wire to bring light to the compound and help provide better security.
* Built a watch tower at the front gate for security at night and a staging area to receive people.
* Initially we were able to send cash to Port-au-Prince to help 40 families immediately after the earthquake.
* Now making regular trips into Port-au-Prince and other affected areas where we support churches and schools to bring food and water to the people.
* Bought tires for our vehicles to haul food and supplies for distributions.
* Gas to run the generator every day so we can charge the inverter and light up the yard for security every night.
* Feeding 60 to 100 people in our yard on a daily basis, our family, kids we are caring for, workers and their families, church people coming from the mountains and Port-au-Prince for help.
* We have shared tarps with many in need of shelter.
* We will be purchasing Bibles to share with those who were newly baptized into Christ.

Purchased two, empty, containers and put them in place on the land to receive the items coming in the other containers so that we can sort and store them until they can be distributed.

* Purchased two containers in the States, one 20ft and one 40ft, to send all the relief supplies to Haiti.
* Shipping costs to Miami, to Haiti, Customs in Haiti, Shipping and handling from St. Marc to Carries.

We’ve finally been able to contact the 15 churches we support and the administrators at the six schools we sponsor, and we are now assisting over 500 families spread out over a 50+ mile radius.

** And this important addition: We’ve seen several come to know Christ, and we’ve done several baptisms … ten just this past Sunday. Keep praying for revival in Haiti.

Thank you for all you have done and all you have given. We pray that God will continue to bless you richly as you continue to serve Him where ever you are. Catastrophe has a way of changing everything so we pray that this is Haiti’s chance to change for the better. She’s a little country sitting on one third of the island that she shares with her neighboring country, the Dominican Republic. Location and weather are the two of her greatest attributes, being about an hour and a half flight from the shores of the United States with temperatures ranging in the eighties and above, year round. Sunshine and warm temperatures are as common as the nasty snow and below zero temperatures of the Midwest this year.
The things stacked up against her are numerous. Years and years of slavery and turmoil which ended in a slave revolt which actually gained their freedom in Haiti. In spite of that fact, the history of Haiti has been written in blood. A bloody slave revolt, president after president put in power which usually ended in his death unless he was able to escape into exile outside the country of Haiti. Each president that was removed from power by death would be replaced by another group of people who had the guts to overthrow him by force. Each time this happened, the country was in total chaos and turmoil as the people would attack anyone they thought to be connected with the one in power. They would break their houses and steal everything in them and carry them through the streets in triumph. This is called dechoukay.
It is just in recent history, since I moved to Haiti seven-teen years ago, that this has begun to change as the U.S. stepped in and held elections and declared they were returning democracy to Haiti. Since then we have had “democratically elected” presidents. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither does democracy come into existence over night in a country that has been ruled by a dictatorship for years. Haiti’s struggle continues.
On January 12, 2010 the greatest dechoukay ever took place. This one took everyone in her path totally off guard. There has been a corrupt skeleton of a government in place for a long time. The earthquake didn’t care about that. No amount of money could have been passed under the table to stop her destruction. She took everyone in her path, rich and poor, young and old, the powerful and the weak.
There is an amazing thing that has happened this week as a result of this catastrophe. A little history that is very important in this story is the fact that years ago, after the successful slave revolt, a special ceremony was held to dedicate the country of Haiti to the service of the voodoo gods who had given them the power to overthrow their masters and gain their independence. People ask me why does a country, like Haiti, which is no larger than the state of Maine, have so many missionaries but yet it seems Haiti is not changing for the better. Instead, it has become a graveyard for missionaries, taking young and old people alike, with the best of intentions, great ideas, money and materials to make a big difference and leaving them hurt, bitter, torn, fragmented, very frustrated and even ready to leave the ministry completely if not just the mission field. My answer to them is that until the country of Haiti as a whole can stand together and say that they are taking their country back from the devil who causes them nothing but misery, pain, poverty, anger, and political unrest, there can be no positive, measureable changes in Haiti.
Now I want to come back to the amazing part, but I must also tell you that this week in Haiti is one of the biggest and most loved cultural explosions in the form of a holiday week called “Carnival” and known to most of you as “Mardi Gra”. It is the one week out of the year to get a grasp on the temperature of the whole country. If the people are happy and feel things are going well, there will be lots of money spent on “Carnival”. Every singing group, business person and political figure will be involved. They will make enormous “floats” to parade around downtown in Port-au-Prince. Basically they stack huge speakers, one on top of the other, as high as is “Haitianly” possible. They decorate them with bright colors and their group or business logo. If the people of the country are not happy, or they are protesting the rising prices and political figures they don’t approve of, all of it will be reflected in the songs they write and the messages portrayed on their floats or chas. Christians usually tend to hold revivals during this week to provide a place of refuge from the whole carnal, immoral mess that surrounds the week. The hospitals are busy because the people take to the streets in full crowds, dancing, laughing, and carrying on which usually turns to fighting and someone getting seriously hurt.
Now the amazing part is that after the earthquake Carnival time has come. The whole country is in mourning. People are still dazed, but the last thing they could do this week would be Carnival. It would be totally disrespectful to observe Carnival this week. Being the very vibrant, resilient, charismatic, colorful people that they are, they are in deep need to let out their feelings, frustrations, hurt and absolute grief in the harshest form. Instead of Carnival, this past week has been declared as three days of prayer and fasting. Large groups of people gathered together all over the country in every section, Christians and non-Christians alike. They gathered outside, under tarps and under trees. They stood. They sat. They kneeled in prayer. They laid prostrate on the ground before the Lord. They jumped up and down. They shouted out their grief. They sang. They cried. They laughed.
Each day was declared with a special purpose. A day to ask God for forgiveness. A day to reconcile their differences with each other and pray for the restoration of the country of Haiti. A final day to ask God’s blessings to be poured out on the country of Haiti and her people and a chance for those of us left behind to thank God for preserving us to continue doing his work. I never thought I would see in my life time, in the country of Haiti, a week where Carnival was not observed and prayer and fasting would take its place.
The results are coming. Walls are coming down. Churches that we have extended the right hand of fellowship to, since beginning our work at Carries, are now coming to seek us out personally to reconcile our differences and work together in the community. What a sweet answer to prayer. We combined with them for the prayer and fasting over the weekend in their church yard. Sunday they gave the entire service to us for us to lead singing, do the preaching and share words of encouragement.
We rejoice in this triumph. We have had two baptisms in the ocean since then. Last night at the revival, fifty-two people came forward to make a decision for Christ. Sunday the church from Montrouis will be coming with others wanting to be baptized into Christ. There isn’t enough water to do the baptisms at Montrouis. We praise God for this and we ask that you pray for strength, courage and wisdom for these new babes in Christ and for us as we help them grow in Him. Scripture says that when a sinner comes to know the Lord, that is when the angels rejoice.
Revival is slowly coming to Haiti. Pray for revival in this little country. Pray that it would be more explosive than the earthquake that demolished this country. Pray that it would be constructive and that the people, as a whole, would turn to the Lord and realize that Satan is only a dead end street. Keep the faith.

Let's talk about changes in our lives!

In Haiti, we now talk about (B.E.) Before Earthquake and (A.E.) After Earthquake. It is always amazing when you know you are in God's will! We've experience numerous examples of the assurance that God is with us here, but when the earthquake hit on January 12th and Wilckly, Marc and I were all safe in Verette, 80 miles from Port-au-Prince, that realization became even more pronounced.

Do we know God has a special plan for our work and ministry in Haiti? We are more sure than ever! If things had gone the way Wilckly, Marc and I had planned, we would have been at One Stop Market on Delmas, a main road in PAP. Crash and Shaina were coming the next day and then four women from Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy, Illinois were to arrive the day after that to do women's seminars at three different locations. I knew I had to get my huge list of groceries before they all arrived. Thank the Lord, His plans are perfect. He made sure we were delayed which put us 80 miles away from the epicenter.

Wilckly and I drove past One Stop Market recently. We looked at each other, stunned, speechless, and evermore thankful to serve our living God. The ground had opened completely and swallowed the place we knew as One Stop. The top story sat level on the ground. There was no evidence of the store that had existed below. What a mighty God we serve!

The next several days passed quickly. Crash and Shaina finally found a way back to Haiti (Thanks to all who prayed and supported them). The night they arrived, I told them that we would probably be sending the kids and grandma to the States. It was a decision that had to be made, but it was anything but easy. It ripped our hearts out to think that we would have to be separated and that they would have to be somewhere that they don't call home. We decided I should travel all the way to Bedford to get them set up. Talk about a whirlwind trip! We left on Wed. from Haiti on a special flight with MFI, Missionary Flights International. The flight service was provided by Joe Gibbs Racing and their private plane. They provided service with their private planes for two weeks or more, getting missionaries, relief workers and supplies, in and out of the country. Commercial flights to Haiti have not yet been restored.

I was not prepared for the emotional rollercoaster I would be on, but who could have been? I was on a mission with a strong resolve to do what needed to be done and what was best for my children. (Hint: That did not make it any easier!) I was totally humbled beyond anything imaginable to find the response of our Christian brothers and sisters everywhere. I was able to attend church at New Market and Bedford on Sunday, to update everyone on our situation in Haiti and bringing mom and the kids back to Bedford for their safety and for health reasons and so that we could do everything neccessary in our changing ministry as it is required on a daily basis now.

I was able to put Ashley in Bedford Elementry school. What a blessing! The faculty and staff have been so accommodating, and we are indebted to them for that. Kelsey will be attending Tinker Tots pre-school. Josiah is home with grandma. The thing that blew me away, but at the same time was the support I was counting on, was that by Sunday afternoon the ladies from both churches had already organized meals to come twice a day for mom and the kids. They had even arranged for her to have Wednesdays off. They brought clothes for cold weather, which the Dorce family is always a little short on.

It was such a relief to me and to my mom and sister, the way that everyone responded. I know they weren't sure how they would manage, but I knew that God was bigger than that if I could just get them there. I know we read in Acts about how the Christians all came together, and they had every thing in common and worked together to make sure the needs of everyone were met. I am excited to let you know that in 2010, Christians are alive and well and they are coming together to meet the needs of others.

So as my heart was aching and I prepared to leave my children, someone else called and said, "We just found out you were here! Is it okay if we come pray with you?" and so they came the night before I left Bedford and they prayed over the children, and prayed for Wilckly and me, the ministry and the hurting Haitian people. Thank you. Thank you all so much. We never know what sacrifice the Lord's service might require from us but we must be ready! It's still painful, but I would do it all again for my Jesus!

Sunday I made the return trip to Haiti by way of the Dominican Republic. We arrived Monday night in Haiti, weary, burdened with the challenge ahead, refreshed by your giving in so many ways. So many of you have given your all, phone calls, emails, loading and unloading, driving, gathering, sorting, buying, packing, talking and making others aware, so that we might continue to minister here to the Haitian people. WE HAVE ONE GOAL IN MIND, THAT THEY MIGHT EACH COME TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST AS THEIR LORD AND SAVIOR.

I close this message to you that I am typing on my laptop out under the tree because we aren't allowed to stay inside for any length of time. Bugs are running over my screen and face. I am preparing to go lie on my mattress under the tarp and join the other l50+ people who are sleeping in our yard even now. They are afraid to return to their homes. We are hoping the container will arrive soon with tents we will be able to use for temporary housing for them. The number of people waiting for food increases by the day. We pray for wisdom as we feel we are just now beginning to do the real work of helping people get back on their feet and putting some kind of structure and sense back into their lives. We will let you know as soon as we have the containers on our grounds. We will bring you up to date also on all of the sponsored children and when and where and how we will begin school again.

Until then, it seems so small, but THANK YOU ALL WHO HAVE HELPED, PRAYED AND GIVEN IN ANY WAY. WE LOVE AND APPRECIATE YOU ALL!

Recent Emails from Crash and Shaina...

Dee has left her children with family in Iowa and is in Palmyra, MO awaiting her flight out to Haiti. The painful task of leaving her children is over, and soon she will be back on Haitian soil, fighting the good fight. Please pray for Dee and Wilckly and Crash and Shaina. Pray for Dee's mom and sister as they adjust to the additional responsibility and blessing of caring for Ashley, Kelsey and Josiah Dorce'.

In the midst of desperate need and devastation, there are so many glimmers of hope ... people who are reunited, stories of God's protection and provision, more and more families heading to Dorce' Ministries for assistance ... a captive audience for meeting basic essentials and for giving the basic message of the gospel. Morning and evening prayer/praise services continue daily.

Pray that the containers sent from the US arrive quickly and are easily moved through customs and transported to Carries. Crash and Shaina have been working tirelessly on getting food donations from other sources on the island. Pray that these connections and the hard work pay off soon.

I am struck by the relevance of Blessing Hearts and Dorce' Ministries motto to reach people for Christ, one soul at a time. The task ahead may seem insurmountable, but the power of God is undeniable. Making a difference one life at a time has become reason to celebrate and motivation to keep moving.

US media may have moved on, but the people of Haiti have grown only more desperate.

My Friends,

"For who is God but the Lord? And who is a rock except our God?”

Let me just begin this letter with these words: God is good. He is so good. I have been back in Haiti for almost two weeks now, and in that time He has repeatedly shown me this truth about Himself. Let me give you some examples:

For the last week we have spent as much time at the airport and on the phone as possible, waiting for supplies to be delivered directly to us. Often the waiting seemed endless, unfruitful. But yesterday our prayers were answered. We finally made contact, and food and water will be arriving any day.

“The God who girds me with strength and makes my way blameless?
He makes my feet like hinds’ feet, and sets me upon my high places.”

Every day requires energy and wisdom beyond my capabilities, but God continues to provide. Sometimes when the task seems just too difficult or the oppression too much to bear, God sends encouragement, like when Elves, our driver, told Crash and I, “Everyone else is leaving Haiti – you came back, even when Haiti is broken.” We were further encouraged when Bioude assured us that she respects us, and others do as well, just because we came back. God is encouraging them through our willingness to follow His leading, and in turn, He encourages us. His ways are perfect.

“He trains my arms for battle, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze,
You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your right hand upholds me...”

The devil and his followers are powerful in this country, but our God is mightier still. Satan is doing all He can to drop obstacles in our path, to discourage us, to stop us from doing whatever we’re doing to further God’s kingdom. But he shall not prevail, for God has given us the weapons we need to fight, and every time it seems a door has closed, the Lord miraculously opens another.

“…and Your gentleness makes me great. You enlarge my steps underneath me, and my feet have not slipped.”
Psalm 18:31-36

His might gives us strength, and His gentleness makes us great. What an empowering promise. This evening I was able to witness a beautiful event that took place on the ocean’s shore. Two people from our congregation were baptized. I have never witnessed a baptism in the ocean before, and the peachy-orange sunset on the horizon coupled with the beauty of the act that was being done was almost too much for my heart to bear. I thought it would explode with joy. Walter, one of the boys, was baptized, and also a woman from our Carries congregation. God is definitely working in the hearts of His people.

I suppose I should give you a little update on my work here: last week Dee and Wilckly made the difficult but necessary decision to send their children back to the States until things here settle down a bit. Even though I knew school would be put on hold for a while, this makes that situation indefinitely changed. I am totally okay with that, as I know and trust has me here for a reason (He certainly made it as easy as possible for me to get back here! There was no doubt that I was meant to come back.), but that means my job description has changed quite a bit. Right now I am doing my best to help out wherever needed, whether that comes in the form of paperwork, climbing on top of ten-foot containers, hanging and re-hanging tarps, watching children, loading and unloading supplies, cleaning and organizing storage rooms, or simply encouraging those I serve with.

Praise God for His goodness, praise Him for His hope and joy in the midst of devastation. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. I send my love to all, and pray this finds you well and dwelling in His love. God bless.

Prayer Requests:

- Language comprehension…though I am learning much quicker now that I am in the middle of everything, the knowledge is still coming along slower than I would like.

- Safe, smooth, and swift delivery of supplies…they will be coming from many sources, and may all be arriving around the same time, which is great, but will require lots of work on our parts. Please pray that we will have the energy needed for this, as well.

- Safety and accuracy in acquiring information…we need to know exactly how many people from our churches in Port-au-Prince are in need of supplies. In order for us to obtain this information, one of our pastors must enter some of the more devastated parts of the city…please pray for his safety and that the information would be easily and quickly received.

- Praise: as I write this, spontaneous singing has once again broken out in our little tent camp. Though fear is still evident in their faces at times, the Haitian people know how to praise their Lord and be joyful in every circumstance. Pray that this mind-set would continue.

I love when I can put that word in the subject line.

Yes, we are seeing progress in getting food and water gathered to distribute! It is so frustrating to have to wait so long. And the people are getting more and more desperate. But the container will arrive and one of the contacts we've been nursing for the past 10 days has confirmed that they will give us food soon, but haven't said exactly when. I believe that "soon" means in the next few days.

Keep praying for Haiti. You have been wonderful and necessary team members thus far and we can't afford to lose any momentum. I have been told that Haiti is no longer on the news very much and many folks have moved their attention to other things, but I thank you for continuing to read and pray and help.

The people have not become any less afraid. In fact, they just moved all of my internet equipment outside under the tree because they don't want me working inside for too long. So I am sitting here outside the house typing an update in the middle of my yard. The insects are a bit worse out here.

It is still quite chilly outside at night and we are handing out (and using ourselves) more and more blankets. Tents are becoming a greater need every day.

PRAISE GOD that we are expecting the first and second containers to come in the next few days! The timing could not be more perfect. I am so thankful for team members who take action at the very best time. I can't wait to send you pictures.

We are preparing as best we can by gathering family lists and making special cards for distribution. The growing problem in any distribution is that people are so desperate now that they don't want to wait; or, if they are not one of the families on our list, they are angry if they don't get something. This is a very difficult place. Pray for smooth distribution.

I will give you more news as it comes. We are still working and waiting. The big stuff comes next.

Just letting all of you know what the new priorities are on this side. We are having to constantly re-evaluate what is most urgent and these are the things that made the Priority one list. Actually they all make the Priority two list. Tents are priority one. Not much time, so here's the list and I'll give better info later if necessary. Oh, and I think we're good on med supplies now. You can stop emphasizing those.

When life's greater questions come to us, we have only one answer to give: "None but Christ." Is there another way to heaven? None but Christ-He is the Way. Is there another priority in life that deserves one's full devotion? None but Christ-He is supreme. Can someone else satisfy the longing of the human heart? None but Christ can satisfy. Truth has no alternative, you see. When life's greater questions come, and they will, are you prepared to testify that of all the possibilities "none but Christ" will satisfy.

New Update.....

Dee Dorce' has "evacuated" their three children and her mother, Reta, from Haiti. They are in the states now and are heading home to Iowa. The Dorce' children will be cared for by Dee's sister and mother ... and no doubt, several area volunteers. It became apparent over this past weekend that it was best to get the children and Grandma back to the states for their safety and well-being. Dee plans to get everyone settled and then return to the work in Haiti as quickly as possible.

Pray that all the arrangements go smoothly. It's hard to be a mom and a missionary!

We will be sending our second container to Florida by the end of the week. Thank you to all of you who gathered items and made the journey to Maryville, MO to load the container. We believe both containers will make good time and will be in the hands of the Dorce's in a few weeks. Thank you for your sacrifice to buy, collect and transport those much-needed supplies.

I have included a portion of the e-mail update from Chris "Crash" Stevens". It a poignant description of life in Haiti and the work that lies ahead. I apologize if this is duplicated information for some of you. It's too good not to share. Crash entitled it "A Heavy Haiti":

The last few days have been full, as you can imagine. We are entering into a new kind of relationship with our Haitian family now. By "we" I mean Shaina and me. Dee and Wilckly are their family, but we have always been "the help". But entering their country when they knew we didn't have to has made a bit of an impact on them. A new respect and compassion is shared on either side.

We all sleep in the yard under tarps. Our yard is full of people at night who leave in the daytime to try to find work and/or food. But they are only a drop in the bucket compared to what we are dealing with inside Port au Prince.

Our estimation is at about 160 families from our congregations and affected school that need either partial or full assistance. We haven't been able to procure exhaustive family lists yet. The chaos does not allow such thorough organization. But we will get as many ducks in a row as possible before distributing anything en mass.

We took our first tour through Port au Prince yesterday. The first of many terrible sights was that of the mass graves being hollowed and then filled again with bodies of the victims. There are at least 100,000 bodies there now. Never thought I would see anything like that in my life. Thank God, we couldn't smell anything from the road or even catch a glimpse of much detail at all. Just piles of dirt and heavy equipment were visible from where we were. I'm fine with that.

Buildings are down everywhere and the whole vast city is peppered with tent villages. Tent village just means that people have found an open area to plant sticks on which they hang sheets to sleep under at night. We observed one military food handout that was not going well. We also discovered a tent city in a virtually unknown part of the city which has received absolutely no aid whatsoever and is suffering badly. We plan to add them to our list of beneficiaries. More on them later. While there, I asked the huge group of adults that had gathered around me how many parents in that group had lost any children in the quake. Every single hand went up. With every hand were raised fingers to show how many they had lost. I saw one woman holding up 8 frail fingers.

We continue to work to try to get food in large amounts to distribute. It is not easy. With so many people asking, not many groups can spare food any longer. I am working overtime walking around in the UN compound and around the airport in Port au Prince trying to find the right person/people/organization to help us. Made several splendid contacts today. Pray that they come to fruition. (from Crash)

Chris "Crash" Stevens and Shaina Ascone, our two short-term missionaries, have returned to Carries, Haiti. They are with the Dorce's tonight. Their trip was long but uneventful. They arrived with all their supplies and provisions. Thank you so much for praying for their safety.

I will send a more lengthy update soon.

Thank you again for your outpouring of support of prayers. These are indeed dark days for Haiti ... an open door to share the Light of the World. Keep praying ... and believing.

A Message from Dee.....

I'm continuing to add to previous e-mails just in case you want to reference something from a past message, so please forgive how lengthy these messages are becoming.

Finally heard from Dee again. There's been no communication since Friday evening. I asked her to share a couple stories with us. Before you read, let me ask you to pray specifically this Thursday and Friday as Chris Stevens and Shaina Ascone, our short-term Dorce' missionaries, return to Haiti. They will be flying into the Dominican Republic and making their way through the Dominican/Haiti checkpoint and back home to Carries with a Dominican driver. Pray for safety and smooth travel. It will be an experience!

Now for those stories from Dee:

Sunday was a very emotional church service as you can imagine. Our building has some structure damage and everyone is scared to death to enter a building, especially with a concrete roof. We held the service in our yard as we have continued to have the 4:30am prayer service each morning. Ashley likes it better that way as she can enjoy the service from under her "warm" covers. Church in bed, now there's a thought!

We set benches out under the trees. The people kept coming. We kept adding benches. A lady named Mdme Faustin was the song leader. She also is the 3rd grade teacher at our school in Carries. She always has a huge smile on her face, and Sunday was no different. She has a strong voice even without a microphone. Her brother usually comes for revival, and when he does it's a whole family affair. Her sisters and their husbands, nieces and nephews, and always her mother. This particular morning, her voice was raspy and yet she led the worship and sang for all she was worth. Then she paused and began to explain that the raspy voice was do to losing her mother in the horrendous earthquake that has shaken every living soul in this blessed country in one way or another. She wasn't able to go to PAP and look for her family who all live in PAP in a three story building because she has three children. She just knew all of her family would be found dead. Her husband went instead. He found the rest of the family had barely escaped, and there was no way to get to her mom quick enough. The rest had all run to the bottom in fright and somehow God spared them underneath the rubble with little or no injury. They were able to remove her body which is more than most could do with the loved ones they had lost. Her brothers were even able to get a coffin or had one ready, just in case, as is a common practice in Haiti. They were able to get her to the edge of the city and give her a proper burial in a cemetery, but it all had to be done so quickly that there was no way her daughter could even go and find that much needed closure. Yet here she stood, solid as a rock and singing for all she was worth and praising the God of the universe, creator of heaven and earth. Until finally she was overcome with emotion and she couldn't continue. Seeing a Haitian women cry is a very disconcerting event especially for myself, having lived in Haiti for 17 years and knowing that women don't show that kind of emotion often, especially not in public. There weren't many dry eyes in the place. Please pray for Madame Faustin that she would have the strength to go on in spite of her loss. Pray for renewal and strength for her and her family. When I finally found the words to express myself, I thanked her in front of everyone for being such a brave soldier when she could have easily turned it into an excuse to not even come to church that morning. She continues to live out her witness for the Lord, and we are very thankful to have her on staff at Berea Christian School at Carries. Pray that God would send more like her to help with the task at hand.

There isn't a person here who hasn't been touched by this tragedy. The head boss of our construction team is Boss John. When we arrived from Verette, we found him distraught at hearing the news. His home is up in Petionville. His house hangs off the edge of the mountain over a great ravine. His home is three stories high. Being a construction man, he built it himself, over the years. I remember the first time I was invited to their home while dating Wilckly. It was for Easter dinner. It was the first time I ever met Mammi, as she is affectionately called by all who know her. I loved her the moment I met her. She's short and jolly and she kept us laughing all afternoon, and her food was amazing. She cooked for many different occasions, weddings, graduations, first communions and the like. She loves cooking. Boss John just knew already that she was dead even though it had only happened an hour or so before and all communications were cut. It was a grueling night as everyone anticipated the morning and their plan of action to find their loved ones. Somehow, Boss John made his way to PAP. We haven't had contact with him again, but we found out today that Mammi's arm was crushed and must be amputated at the shoulder and she has lots of internal injuries. She has been taken all the way to the North part of Haiti to O'Cap to a hospital there, and she is not in good condition. We pray that she survives the trip. Boss John's daughter, Christine, who is fourteen, was killed under the rubble and can't be retrieved. His other children have minor injuries. He still has on the only pair of clothes that he wore to town. We are trying to get contact with him to tell them to come to Carries. Please pray for strength for this man in his agony. He is not a Christian and his family are not Christians either. They are like family to us though. He is like a brother to Wilckly, and we pray this will be an opportunity for the whole family to come to know Christ as their personal Savior.

This is our prayer for all of Haiti, our dear, dear Haiti. Seize the opportunity. Pray for great revival in this land like never before and that finally Haiti will come to her knees as a whole and dedicate this country to the Lord instead of to Satan. It is only then that there will be true revival and change in this dear land. We are counting on you to pray for that.

Thank you so much for e-mailing, calling and supporting Dee and Wilckly Dorce'. These are indeed desperate days for the people of Haiti.

I have spoken with Dee on the phone. She has been able to make brief calls to the states, but we have not been able to call her.

She wants me to assure you that they are safe. Wilckly, Dee, Ashley, Kelsey and Josiah, along with Marc and his family, and Bioude, and their immediate staff are all okay; but as Dee would say, "Everyone in Haiti has someone in Port-au-Prince," so the loss continues to prove great among the Dorce' staff and the people in and around Carries.

For all practical purposes, Dorce' Ministries/Berea Christian School in Carries has been transformed into a refugee camp. People are flooding out of Port-au-Prince looking for food, water, medical treatment and comfort. The Dorce's property looks like a make-shift tent city. Dee reports that with every after shock (and there continue to be many), they have to calm everyone down again and try to explain that it's not the end of the world or the work of evil spirits ... a pretty hard sell at this point.

What these people have witnessed has left them traumatized at the very least. The reason they are leaving the city may in some ways be even worse than the initial earthquake. Without going into too much detail, imagine anarchy mixed with desperate hunger, no water and a stinch that defies the words to express.

The Dorce's are feeding hundreds of people every day. They are doing their best to treat their wounds. They are praying with them and comforting them and sharing Christ with them. It is a great and terrible moment all in one.

Many of you have responded and continue to do so in overwhelming fashion. I have shared some of your efforts with Dee, and she nearly breaks down with each story. I wanted to give you this update on their situation and how the relief and support efforts are going, so I've listed several options to support Dorce' Missions, the first two being the most immediate way to provide support and aid:

1. Cash. All funds received by this coming Wed., 1/20, will be hand-deliver by our two short-term missionaries returning to Haiti to work with the Dorce's. With no means for wiring or transferring funds for what could be several weeks (or longer), sending as much support with them is paramount. As funds continue to come in, we will work hard to find a way to get that money to the Dee and Wilckly.

2. Materials. We have a container* in Maryville, MO which was already scheduled to ship out the end of next week. The most immediate need is for food, water and basic medical supplies (alcohol, iodine, peroxide, bandages of all sizes, antibiotic products, etc). All items for the shipment of this container need to be in Maryville by this Wednesday (1/20). The contact is Charlie and Teresa Bowen, 660-853-9897.

3. Backhoe Project. Several churches and individuals are working on purchasing a Bobcat tractor with backhoe and front end loader attachments. There is no one in the entire area where the Dorce's minister that has equipment to move rubble or build/rebuild. You may contact me for more information on this project.

And, of course, Pray. Pray for strength and wisdom and perseverance and safety and protection for the Dorce's. Pray for the people who take refuge at the Dorce's mission properties. Pray that resources will have supernatural longevity. Pray that we can get the aid to them when they need it. Pray that we would all respond as God calls us to respond.

*Regarding the container, it will ship into St. Marc, a city several hours north of Port-au-Prince, a secure, undamaged port that is easier for the Dorce's to access and to transport from. We feel confident that this container will get to the Dorce's in a timely fashion. We are already making provisions for a second container to be filled and shipped. We anticipate this one will also be done at Maryville under the direction of Charlie and Teresa Bowen.

Here is the latest email from Dee Dorce'..........

Thank you we can't begin to be grateful enough for what you are doing and what the Lord has done for us. We are trying not to act impulsively about anything. There are so many things to assess and they must be assessed wisely. Please pray for wisdom for us to know the best way to help.

Our first impulse is to flock to PAP to help! to search! to give water and food and clothes! Then our senses come about us that really means while we are all flooded with emotion at such an extreme level, the Lord has given Wilckly the ability and strength to stay patient and rational and to think through each situation. If we rush in what help can we give? if we wait, the trouble will come to us!!! and little by little it has begun. More people are coming and many of them with those who are injured. Many of those who went to look for those missing are so traumatized by what they saw and God forbid what they smelled, that they are stunned. They aren't able to function. Last night we had almost 200 people sleeping in the yard at carries, on the ground. i know you all think it is funny but it is cold for people who are used to sleeping inside a very small enclosed area with no windows and where the temperature for sleeping is from 85 to 100 degrees and they won't crack a window because they don't want the evil spirits to have a place to come in. the evenings are probably around 68 to 70 degrees at the foot of the mountain with a breeze off the ocean. Great sleeping for you but when we got up this morning the dew was so heavy that we had to wring the sheets and blankets out and put them in the sun. Everyone is coughing and has runny noses. We need cough medicine and pain medication. We need blankets, sheets, pillows, pieces of carpet because we know this is only the beginning of our new community. We need plywood, 2x4's, tin, nails. We need tarps. If ever there was a time we need the big equipment we have been waiting for it is now. The backhoe loader is essential in preparing the place for those coming and for going to help with the clean-up in PAP where our schools and churches are located. The backhoe loader, a small bull dozer and any fair sized dump truck would be huge assets in trying to help clean up all the mess. The time to ask for that is now, we don't know who God has out there wanting to help in these capacities and to come donate their time and service after they get here. Don't worry, from the little I've seen, it will be decades and we will still trying to clean up all the mess. Soon they will be finished with what they can do in PAP and people will start to come in droves to the countryside looking for shelter food and water. Wilckly and I are today trying to decide how best to use what we have in hand, money and supplies. A small sack of rice that holds 9 gallons of rice was being sold for $180 haitian, now if you can find it, it is $300 Haitian. Fortunately we had a supply of our own gas stocked up for the seminar for vehicles and generators. We will use it sparingly but glad we have it. Hopefully we will be able to find mattresses, cots etc at St. marc in the mean time that we will be able to use to receive people we know the people are still in shock that are still alive but when they get their senses about them, they will come to Kiki and Dee, they always do. if we had the bobcat Wilckly would already be clearing the land above at Carries to prepare to receive people that will be coming and those we don't know how long they will be staying. We are talking about the gator too as we don't even have a clue what traveling situation will come about. Sorry I am not making much sense I'm racing against battery. Thanks for all you are doing. Just received this e-mail from Dee. Read it and rejoice!

(Our efforts continue to raise money by next Tuesday and to encourage large donations for the container to be delivered to Maryville by next Wed.)

PRAISE BE TO GOD FOR HIS PROTECTION AND WATCHCARE OVER US. PRAISE GOD FOR COMMUNICATION! FINALLY!

We are all fine at Carries. No injuries and no deaths this far out, just walls that have fallen or cracked. Praise God Marc was not in PAP that day as he many times is. He was with Wilckly and I and we were all at Verette checking on the things for the seminar. We felt it enough and long enough to move out from under the porch where we were sitting. Other people were running. In a few moments we felt it again. We headed back to Carries praying everyone was safe there as we started to hear the horrendous reports being given on the radio. The palace broken in three pieces and the list continued, at the end of every sentence the word broken. Finally, the announcer said in exasperation, "Haiti is completely broken, finished!" Our hearts were heavy and we thought we would never arrive. We were relieved to find all of our people were fine. Of course it was dark and we were still feeling the tremers from time to time. We quickly loaded everyone and headed to Carries. We camped out on the ground on mattresses, straw mats and chunks of old carpet. Many people from the area came to join us to pass the night which we did, singing, praying and thanking God for our safety. People kept coming and coming until I lost count.

It wasn't until morning we were able to walk around Carries and assess the damage there. There were about 10 houses that the walls fell in which didn't take much as they were only made of sticks and mud yet it was all they had. The walls laid bare the ingredients of the homes. A bed, a chair, a table, some dishes and a few clothes hanging in the midst of the rubel. Of course the people were upset but no one was injured or killed and they were truly thankful especially as we continued to receive news of PAP.

The situations we are hearing about are unbelievable. People went to look for their families in PAP. Everyone has somebody in PAP. Many send one of their children to stay with family in PAP in hopes of sending them to school. Those returning were telling stories of walking over the dead to find the dead. They were physically sick everywhere they looked but desperate to find their own people. I know the things you are seeing on CNN are devastating but imagine those in the middle of it, walking through it. God give us the strength to minister to them. They need our truck to carry their dead from PAP. They need our assistance for those who have been hurt. Some of those who came already I couldn't help them. I had to send them on to the nearest hospital an hour away to get x-rays and medication. It is one thing to be in a situation trying to help those around you. It is another thing to know that no matter what you do and how many you help it will not be enough.

We want you to know we are safe and still receiving news of Wilckly's family in PAP, our schools and churches there. People have already come from the country and mountain churches to see if we are okay. We are and God has reserved us for such a time as this. Pray that we will be capable with His help His grace and His provision to comfort the grieving, care for the hurting, feed the hungry and that many would come to know Christ through our efforts that are only possible because of you supporters who are behind us. Pray, Pray, and Pray again. Give as you feel it in your heart to give and we will be His hands and His feet to do what we can here. Thank you for praying for us as we knew you would all be concerned at the disturbing news and sights provided to you by CNN. We love you and we thank God for you. Take courage as we faithfully stick to the task.

We will need food and water to share with the people, at this point we don't even know to what extent. We don't know what our role will be or what resources we will have or where they will come from. We will need clothes and shoes to share with those who have lost everything. The food and water situation worries us the most right now as everything has been totally demolished in PAP. One Stop Market where we get groceries was flattened. Everything along, Delmas, the main road we travel in PAP is demolished. Nothing is functioning including phone service obviously. We are praying they will work to restore it soon. We will let you know as soon as we know how you can help.

As you have heard, there has been an enormous earthquake in Haiti. We are waiting to hear from Dee and Wilckly and asking that everyone please keep them in your prayers!

We are in the need of medical supplies.....ibuprofen, tylenol, aspirin, band-aids, gauze, antibiotic ointment, canned foods, hygiene products, MONEY DONATIONS to purchase these items, etc.... It is a beautiful thing when folks in poverty are no longer just a mission project but become genuine friends and family with whom we laugh, cry, dream and struggle..... "I no longer call you servants...instead I have called you friends." From the very words of Jesus.....(John 15:15) Praying without ceasing for our friends and family in Haiti!

Greetings on behalf of Blessing Hearts International and Dee and Wilckly Dorce’.

I wish I could give you some substantial information about the Dorce’s, but we have not been able to contact them.

We remain confident that the Dorce’s are safe. Their home mission is in Carries, about 50 miles north of Port-au-Prince. They have several staff and churches/schools in and around Port-au-Prince, but we continue to believe that Carries should have been spared major damage.

I am also confident that Dee will contact us as soon as she can. We are also trying every number and means of contact that we have.

We are coordinating information and logistics to provide monetary support and supplies to the Dorce’s, and we will update you with those details as soon as possible.

Lonia Ermilus was born in Haiti on July 29, 2007. Born without a rectum, she was in desperate need of a miracle. Missionaries and doctors were able to arrange to bring Lonia to the United States for life-saving surgeries. Lonia now needs continued care here in the United States.

We Celebrate Dee & Lonia's Birthday!!!

Chris & Kyle hosted a WONDERFUL birthday party for Dee and Lonia.....we met at their house in Palmyra, MO (close to Hannibal). Lots of FOOD, SWIMMING, LAUGHTER, and KARAOKE !!!!

It was great to get together and see dear friends and spend time with so many special people who contribute so much of their time to the Dorce's and their ministry!

Lonia just celebrated her 2nd birthday!! PRAISE GOD! She is doing very well and even though she is still very small for her age, she can keep up with the best of them! She loves people, is very chatty, and she has a personality and laughter that will just melt your heart! We all love her so much and are SO THANKFUL that God has allowed her to be a part of our lives! She continues to grow stronger and healthier each day.

Wilckly was able to be here in the States to reunite with his family and find some retreat and rest from the hard life in Haiti. It was so good to see him...... he is an inspiration to us all!

Dee and the kids are here in the States. Praise God for their safe trip here! Dee and Crash are very busy for the next few months here doing Church Camps, Vacation Bible School's, and speaking engagements. This is a very crucial time for their ministry as far as raising money to support their ministry in Haiti. PLEASE, PLEASE...let us keep them in our prayers as they reach out to others and share what God is doing with Dorce' Ministries to help poverty stricken families in this very poor 4th world country...Haiti.

If you can spread the word to Church's who are looking for 'Missions' to support, etc.....Dee would greatly appreciate the opportunity to come and speak with them! Due to baby Lonia's medical journey and needs last summer, Dee was not able to visit Church's and raise the necessary money that they normally raise over the summer months. THIS IS A HUGE NEED! Please...if you can help in any way....through private donations.... and most of all... your prayers!

Please pray that God will continue to provide for them and that Dee, Wilkly & Crash will be encouraged & strengthened. Many children at their school's still need to be sponsored...$40 a month will provide an education, food, clothes and most importantly..the Gospel!!

She is doing great! She continues to heal and grow strong...& she will be 2 this July! PRAISE GOD!

We ask that everyone pray for the situation once again in Haiti...many are losing their homes and their lives due to floods.

Also....pray for traveling Grace for Dee & the 4 kids as they travel to the States and for a Summer full of divine appointments as she raises money for their very important Ministry!

Also...PRAISE GOD... that Crash has returned home! We are SO thankful for her service and efforts in Haiti! Crash will be helping Dee with fund raising this Summer and will return early Fall to Haiti.

Hi Fred,

Thank you and what a blessing. We have had trouble with our internet. Crash said she got some pictures to you to work with. I can't send pictures yet but at least I can send the letter. I'm glad you got together with Crash. We can't wait to see you. You won't believe my growing girls or what a little man Josiah is already becoming.

We will be leaving Haiti on May 26th, Lord willing. I have a visa appointment for Lonia for 8:30a.m. We will be applying for a medical visa again but will also ask for a multiple visa for her at that time. We really need everyone to pray this is granted so she can continue to see the Doctor each year and he can determine if further surgery will be needed. We also must pray that after we get the visa that the Haitian Social Services will grant us the paper work needed in one day. Lonia is doing quite well but really missing chicken nuggets and french fries to dip in her ketchup so she can lick the ketchup off. Her parents are very proud of her progress. Her baby brother Ezekiel is growing quickly.

We just had report that the people at our mountain church at Kunol had terrible rains last night that resulted in flash flooding. Several people lost their homes. Some of our school children and their parents were killed in the flooding. We haven't received exact numbers yet. Pasteur Morisma will be coming with some people tomorrow. We will be sending as much food and clothing as possible to help those in the mountains.

We have really needed the rains of May which have been very slow in coming. Now that they are here they are also very dangerous. Please pray for the safety of our people here during this much needed rainy season. It is very dangerous in some areas where nothing has been repaired since the hurricaines of last year.

We were able to make the trip to the mountains of Cupois where Lonia is from. We took her to see her family. Grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and many church people were there and thrilled to see her and hear her miraculous story. We have a school there at the church at Cupois and her grandpa is the deacon in charge of things. He is a very faithful and dedicated man. He also oversees the school, which isn't much yet. There is one teacher and about forty students of kindergarden and first grade. It is because it is so hard to find teachers in this remote area that this one teacher has such a burden. His willingness has made it possible for forty children to attend school. There are so many more children who still needing sponsors, like the children in the picture. They came to see what all the white people were doing way up there, off the beaten path. The desire they have most is that we would hand pick them, choose them. Tell them it's okay now. Their life is going to be different now because we have found a sponsor for them and they are going to learn to read and write. Some of them are so excited because they know the secret that their parents hide, that most of them can't even write their own name. You could be part of making that difference in the lives of one of these children. We only ask $40 per month to sponsor one of them. This will provide them with a uniform, books and the opportunity to really make a life for themselves. This is huge in a country like Haiti where girls are condemned at a very young age to having children. I know young girls, fourteen and fifteen that are having babies. You can sponsor a child at Berea Christian Schools and you can help us stop this vicious circle. Please pray about it and see how God really wants you to help. May God continue to poor his richest blessings out on you as you continue to serve Him faithfully. Thank you for all your support of our ministry in Haiti. It would be IMPOSSIBLE without your help.

Please pray for Crash..as she is recovering from an "intense" reaction/allergy to the sap from the mangos that she was picking from the trees. When ready for picking, they make for a great source of food in Haiti. While picking the Mangos and coming in contact with the sap...she broke out into a severe rash/hives...even to the point of her eyes being almost swollen shut. She is finally getting some relief after medication was found to help her...(not the best medication for this particular case, but making due with what they have..)

Crash...you are a CHAMP! We will continue to pray for your quick healing!

A Word from Dee Dorce'.......

It is good to be home in Haiti and settling into a routine. My Sunday morning routine has changed a little. Trying to get four kids ready and out the door to church is enough to keep one on their toes. Fortunately , Crash is here to help and grandma Reta too. Ashley is pretty good help too. Last Sunday as I was doing the normal and getting everyone ready, diaper bags packed, food, water, cooking oil, charcoal, and cooler of ice in place, Pastor Quene was asking for me.

I stopped what I was doing and went to talk to him. He shared that he had met a woman on a tap-tap the day before and had shared Jesus with her. She decided she wanted Christ in her life and asked if she could be baptized. Pastor Quene told her to meet him on the beach Sunday morning and he would baptize her. Praise the Lord, she showed up. It was pretty exciting that before even going to church I was able to go down to the ocean with Pastor Quene, this lady and her husband and son and my children and witness as she became a new babe in Christ. We were doing some great rejoicing with the angels that morning. Join us in rejoicing that we have people like Pastor Quene on staff who are really living out their lives as a true Christian. They are working for Christ around the clock.

Rejoice with me also that in nine months of my absence that Bioude’s two daughters, Mikerlange and Tika, kept teaching Sunday school and teaching Sunday school and teaching Sunday school!!! This may not seem like much to you but it is huge for me. I sometimes leave and they attempt to do it but if I am not there to keep encouraging them to stick with it, they drop the ball. I am especially impressed with these two young women and their willingness to stick with it for the nine months I have been gone. Progress is slow but the Lord continues to bless. Pray for these young ladies as they grow in their walk with the Lord.

Another Sunday school class was added for high school age kids in my absence. I am thrilled about this as we, in the past, have not had anyone willing to take the challenge. I couldn’t do justice to them while working with the younger children so they have been left out. Pray for this new area of the ministry and for the one who has taken the challenge to make the class happen.

Please pray for more serious, trustworthy Haitian workers that can enter into our growing mission administration. The devil is constantly on the prowl, waiting to devour us at every turn. Pray for us that we would have strength, courage, physical stamina and wisdom to face each new day and situation. We really do desire your prayers. We appreciate your every thought and prayer for us. We appreciate your faithfulness in supporting the mission work in Haiti with your tithes and offerings. We thank you for giving until it hurts and we thank you for giving in your abundance.

Haiti Bound....

Joe Tebo was at the airport working when Dee and the girls left for Haiti...He was able to help them get through security and speed things up for them.

He said everything went pretty smooth...he was actually there to see them all off. Kelsey pretty much slept the entire time.

I heard from Dee when they landed in Miami...they didn't fly out for Haiti until 2pm that afternoon, so they were all able to relax and regroup before taking off again.

Dee's voice was full of enthusiasm! She said, "I'm almost home! Haiti, here I come!"

Hopefully, we will here from her again soon from Haiti....They are to take Lonia up to the mountains on Tuesday to visit her family.

Dee and her mother (Gramma Reta) along with Ashley, Kelsey, Josiah and Lonia will be leaving for Haiti very early this Saturday morning. They are bringing along a group of 12 girls from Hannibal La Grange College, who will be there all next week to help with some painting and other service projects. This group has been a couple of times before, and they were there last March when Dee found Lonia.

Please pray for...

1.) Their traveling...

2.) Their transition back into Haiti (customs, security, etc..)....

3.) Lonia's transition back into her own family and culture....

4.) Lonia's continued recovery and care....

5.) Dorce' Ministries and their needs....

It has been 9-10 mos. since Dee has been here with Lonia. Dee is SO very excited to be going back home to reunite with Wilckly and her family & friends. She returns with their new baby boy and with Lonia and all her needs to maintain her health and recovery.....she is on an emotional roller coaster! She is ready....she has been blessed....she has made a difference...she is an amazing servant of God!

We will miss them all here in the States...but we know that there is much work to be done in Haiti, and that is their home.

THANK YOU for this awesome journey that you've included all of us to go on with you these past months. We've all been touched by the hand of God through you! We've seen Jesus through you, we've seen His amazing love and His message has been loud....He loves his people...He is BIG and can use all of us at anytime to accomplish His work. He is ALL KNOWING and ALL LOVING.... we are humbled, and we are encouraged by your example of obedience and commitment to His calling. Press forward dear friends...we look forward to supporting, praying, and witnessing this miracle unfold even more in the months and years to come.

Our California visit...

What a blessing to be able to go to Sacramento, California and celebrate Lonia's journey with everyone who was involved in a HUGE way with her this past year. Lonia returns to Haiti March 7. PLEASE continue to pray for her as she returns to her family and to her original environment, and for her continued healing. She will need one more surgery in about a year, but she is doing quite well......you can see the spark in her eyes ...she is spunky and full of life and energy. She has a long way to go to recover, but is well on her way!
